Great Lakes
Foundation

The Great Lakes Foundation believes in the power of tourism to change lives, protect wildlife, and create a brighter future.
Founded by Amos and Amy Wekesa, the foundation works hand-in-hand with communities living near Uganda’s national parks to ensure they benefit from tourism. Our mission is to invest in education, conservation, and community empowerment helping local people access opportunities that improve their lives while protecting the incredible natural heritage that surrounds them.
Sustainable Impact Through Tourism
Our work is supported by a conservation and community levy on safaris and bed-night contributions from our lodges, ensuring that every visit leaves a positive impact. When you stay with us, you directly contribute to programs that create sustainable livelihoods for the communities around us.
Join the Movement
We believe that real change happens when people come together. Whether you’re traveling with us, staying at one of our lodges, or simply looking to give back, you can be part of this impact.
Donations are welcome and can be made via the foundation’s website.
Together, we can build a future where both people and wildlife thrive.
